Welcome, friend! The Chia House is the former-best-friend, now-married duo, Abbey and Jake Chiavario.
We began our home renovation journey in mid-2014 with the acquisition of our first home in Nashville, Tennessee. We flipped that house and had so much fun doing it, that we purchased a new one to do it all over again in 2016.
Abbey grew up painting rooms in her childhood home with her mom, taking art classes, and locking herself in her bedroom to make art in peace away from her three siblings. Jake, on the other hand, grew up with a John Deere mechanic for a dad and spent much of his free time learning the ins and outs of anything with a motor in the garage with his brother and his dad. Together, we have been able to combine our talents in the best way to visualize and execute projects.
We were best friends long before we were anything more. We grew up a few towns away from each other in Northern Illinois with mutual friends. What started as a childhood crush at eleven evolved into a long-lasting friendship and a rock-solid foundation like that is very important to us.
We love to laugh and spend time together, and though we love to venture out to our favorite restaurants and watering holes, we are true homebodies through and through. Most days you’ll find Abbey creating something inside, Jake in the garage, or we’ll be out on our motorcycles. We live for a good, home-cooked meal. We love to recreate versions of our favorite desserts that we loved growing up. We can’t wait to share these things with you.
